THE DISEASE MODEL

They say alcoholism, drug addiction, compulsive gambling, depression are diseases comparable to diabetes, cancer, heart disease, kidney disease. And that we shouldn't be mad at people with these conditions because they're sick.

Then it dawned one me why I have trouble with it. Because a person with cancer will seldom throw or break things. A person with diabetes usually won't call you names and hurt your feelings. And a person with kidney disease probably won't embarrass you in public.
