A NARROW ESCAPE
So around three-thirty yesterday I got a phone call and three e-mails commanding all of us to be in the conference room at ten am the next morning. Which is never a good thing. Long story short, they aren't firing us, just cutting our paychecks by five percent.
Which is probably cheaper for them, as they won't have to pay us severance. Or unemployment. Or buy us out. And if we quit, we get zip.
I feel as though I've been beaten up.
Still, I feel like the death row inmate who got a reprieve from the governor. Or the cancer patient with a good lab report.
