Holy shit! Multiple emergency vehicles in Adams Morgan, most of them in front of Mac's.
Also, I was walking down M St in Georgetown and a window pane exploded. If I had been there about five or ten seconds earlier the shards might have fallen on top of me. Fortunately I was wearing a hat and coat.
Dow down, weather more pleasant but windy at the end of the week. Gas prices as high as $4.49/gallon at the Exxon/Mobil station at 23rd and M Sts. Have been using my free health club passes to schvitz every day.
In addition to the tortures below they flogged him, rubbed lard and salt into his wounds, bound him into a red hot iron chair and threw his body into the sea:
Dow up, weather started out bitterly cold, got warmer, then ended with snow. They say gas prices will go up soon. Got a free health club pass, will try to sauna.
Temperatures have been down into the 30's this week. A bartender felt sorry for me walking around bare-legged so she says she's going to buy me some wooly tights.
Today is Martin Luther King Day. If there is ever a day named after me I give people license to observe (or not observe) it however the fuck they like, as long as it's legal.
Dow down but still over 12 thousand, gas as low as $3.23/gallon at the Free State station on Rockville Pike. Weather pleasant earlier this weekend but a lot colder, blusterier now -- every time I try to enjoy it I get sick again.
30 years ago today an Air Florida plane hit the 14th St. Bridge. I was interning at DC 101 then. Three people were also killed on the Orange Line Metro. I was on the Orange Line when it happened, but going in the other direction.
The Haitian earthquake was two years ago. One my students was there -- he said it sounded as though a bomb had gone off. One of my Brazilian students said Haiti was the saddest place he'd ever seen.
Watched "The Notebook" with James Garner and Gena Rowlands. His body is going, her brain is going. A real downer. If nothing else, it gives me incentive to stay healthy. Six or seven years later would it have been called "the tablet?"
Dow down, gas prices at $3.29/gallon at two stations on Lee Highway in Arlingotn and Rockville Pike. Weather srarted nice, got bitterly cold, nicer now. Bulking up on vitamins, immune boosters, antioxidants etc.
